Writing has been very hard here lately. I’ll blame it on that little thing we in the biz call “life”. There’s just so much of it, it’s hard to find time for other things.
On the plus side, I just finished and submitted “Burt & the I.L.S.” for publication this weekend. Another 25 pages of comic book excellence and/or completion. Once again, time travel is Burt’s nemesis, too, though he doesn’t seem as angst-ridden about it as Garison.
Now that I think about it, though, Garison and Burt are both pretty laid back about the whole time travel thing. Garison’s wives are pretty shook up about it, but he pretty much just takes things as they come. Burt’s wife, though, is even more laconic about it than Burt or Garison. I don’t know how I would react to time travel (mainly because I don’t believe it’s possible–I just like it as a literary device) because I am, at my most basic, pretty much a “take it as it comes” kind of guy.
Some of that (hopefully, most of it) is because I trust God to take care of things, but some of it I must admit comes from my own past inability to change things. The big things of life go on with or without my permission, so I can either fight that and be frustrated or look with happy anticipation for the next thing. “Hey! What’s coming now?”
