One of the things that I have to decide in my own mind is “who is telling the story?” For instance, “The Nice Guy” was written in first person, so it’s obviously told by Bat Garrett. “First Time: The Legend of Garison Fitch” is told by Heather and Sarah Fitch. As is “Saving Time.” “Lost Time”? The first 3/4 of it is told by Bronwyn Kerrigan. The last fourth is probably told by Heather.
This is most confusing (to the reader, anyway, I didn’t have a problem with it!) in my novel “So Many Books”. While not told in first person, I tried to make it clear that the two leads were competing for POV.
Finally, yesterday, I realized who is telling “Garison IV” and that has made all the difference.
No, I’m not telling you who it is. You’ll have to read it for yourself … someday.
