Alexander “Opie” Gates was in New York City, helping a friend, when he met her. She was fun, attractive, and had a horrifying background. When she started attending the mission where Opie was helping out, he felt pretty good about his ability to emulate Jesus’s dealings with “the woman caught in adultery” and forgive her.
But then he began to fall for her. Suddenly, he wasn’t just trying to forgive some person on the periphery of his life, he was trying to forgive someone he wanted to fall in love with of sins he would have once thought unimaginable.
What would Jesus do? That’s easy to answer. What will Opie do? He’s not so sure about that.
